Description
This project is good anytime during the school year and is adaptable for any subject area. The lesson included is for Rational Numbers. It is a hands-on activity that will keep your students engaged while working independently or in small groups of 3 or 4 to design, create a layout, and build their own Neighborhood of Rational Numbers.
Students will:
· Compare and order decimals & mixed numbers by ordering them Least to Greatest
· Convert decimals to fractions
· Convert integers to fractions
· Convert mixed numbers to improper fractions
· Convert fractions & mixed numbers to decimals (terminating and repeating)
· Multiply rational numbers
This package includes:
· Sample student notes (4 pages)
· Rubric for scoring each Neighborhood
· Mini student copy of rubric
· Teacher Day by Day Directions
· 60 math problems (Four sets of 15)
· Teacher Record Sheet for scoring project
· Pictures of Student samples of completed project
· Pictures of flap examples
Differentiation:
I used this project for Math class. Differentiate by assigning math problems based on ability levels.
