Description

Long before Rome dominated the Mediterranean Sea, there was Carthage. Founded as a colony by the Phoenicians, the city had grown into a trading empire. Located off the coast of North Africa, in what's now Tunisia, made it an ideal location for trade. It also put it on course for conflict with the Romans. Having already fought the First Punic War, Carthaginian general Hannibal came closer than anyone else to stopping the might of Rome. He had the war elephants. He crossed the Alps. He won battles. So what happened? Read on to find out how Hannibal's daring war with Rome strengthened Rome's resolve.

This reader's theater is about Hannibal and his fight against Rome. It's a great way to get students reading out loud while at the same time learning about the past in a new way. With 28 characters, there's something for everyone.
