Description

If you and your middle school students find a regular textbook boring and tedious, this is the product for you. I've designed a full-month unit on the Revolution and Declaration so you can just attach and go! Interactive lessons, activities, and assessments give you absolutely everything you need to teach a complete unit that is engaging and meaningful.

This unit begins with the start of the Revolutionary War and goes through the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

This "all in one" unit includes:

✅Planning Slideshow that is fully linked and editable; this can be given to students on their Google Classroom and will keep your unit completely organized and accessible

✅4 interactive lessons ("The Colonists Unite", "The War Begins", "The War Heats Up", "Declaring Independence")

✅4 reading responses that coordinate with each lesson; perfect for independent work or homework

✅Study guide and suggested study tools

✅2 assessments (Google Forms™)- self-correcting

✅1 final project with grading rubric

Here is what I recommend for a smooth, organized unit:

⭐️Attach the slideshow to your digital learning platform. Assign each student their own copy. This helps you to easily manage a month-long unit.

⭐️Have students fill out the 'Student Thoughts" slide to get them engaged. They can start with this and add as the unit goes on. It is fun to play songs related to this time period as they do this. You can be creative here...'We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister and 'We are the Champions" by Queen are fun!

⭐️Teach the actual lessons. They take 1-2 days. Use your judgment on how to break this up in a way that works best for you and your students.

⭐️Students will work right in the slideshow on activities such as a "do now" activity, vocabulary, response to information, and a closing activity.

⭐️Use the 'Reading Responses" as homework or classwork. assignments. They are editable; you can add/change if you would like.

⭐️Using the study guide, have students work on the study tools to prepare for the quiz assessments.

⭐️At the end of the unit, assign the project. You can assign it in a "jigsaw fashion", giving each member of a small group a different battle. It makes a great final assessment. All directions are included and editable to keep it manageable for you and your kids.

⭐️Have students share their projects in their small groups. There is a simple recording sheet to keep them focused on their teammates' presentations.

⭐️Use the rubric for easy grading of the project.
