Description

In this unit, students will enjoy reading pages of informational text and answering guided questions to summarize the information and understand the terms they need to learn about seasonal changes in plants and animals. Students will read and compare facts, investigate seasonal changes in Florida plants and animals, and then use their knowledge to answer questions and complete activities in order to apply their knowledge. The activities and questions encourage inquiry-based learning while engaging students in critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

All activities and lessons are aligned to scientific thinking, NGSS, and CCSS for 4th-grade science. All the activities include an answer key so you can use it when your kids are working independently.

This Activity aligns with Next Generation Science Standards:
⚬ SC.4.L.17.1 Compare the seasonal changes in Florida Plants and Animals to those in other regions of the country.

They can complete the activities on paper or on a computer using Google Classroom. This resource is divided into the following sections, and within each section are ready-to-print resources and engaging activities:

Introduction to Seasonal Changes in Plants and Animals
It has a brief history of the subject, with an overview of all the most important points. It also includes diagrams and illustrations to help illustrate what they're learning and make it more fun.

✍ Identify the examples of seasonal adaptations of plants
✍ Match the seasonal changes to the correct target animal
✍ Describe changes that happen during each season
✍ Identify if it's a plant seasonal change or an animal seasonal change
✍ Identify whether the animal hibernates or migrates

✍ Identify if the statement is true or false
✍ Fun investigating activities: Animal migration research and Animal hibernation research
✍ Plant seasonal changes: Describe the Longleaf pine tree and Bald cypress tree
✍ 4 in a row: Seasonal changes in plants and animals

Answer Key to Activities
All Science Activities include an answer key that is available as PDF and Google Slides. The answer key is a valuable resource to use in the classroom, or at home, as they help students learn how to explain their answers, check if their explanations are correct, and improve their scientific knowledge and thinking skills.
