Description
This lab is a great way to introduce the basics of chemistry! With this you can show signs of a chemical change, endothermic reactions, and the law of the conservation of mass.
The reaction is contained inside a nitryl glove, which keeps the mess contained while giving a cool effect as the glove blows itself up.
This also includes the basics of using a triple beam balance. You can download the ppt. slide HERE.
High school teacher can expand this into stoichiometry and balancing equations, limiting reaction, and gas law problems!
This is all done with vitamin C drink mix and baking soda! You can also modify this to work with alka-selzer tablets.
To illustrate a chemical change, I used raspberry emergency-C drink mix, which changes from a blush to deep red color when mixed.
