Stream Tables are a great way to simulate how rivers move and erosion hits homes. You can model this with a stream table, rain gutter, or even find a river outside!
This is a full unit lab! Hands on and engaging, my students loved to play in the mud and to challenge themselves to save their town from erosion. This includes samples, answer keys, and field pictures!
I developed this for a remote village in AK where the class lived next to the Bearing Sea! They were worried about the spring storms eroding the beach and areas around their homes, so they looked at a lot of options to stabilize the land around their homes. You can adjust this for your local area.
