Students will use Substitution (when the variable represents an expression) to find the missing value in the 3rd Balance of this fun, yet challenging activity/puzzle.
As your students work through the puzzle, they will use critical thinking and develop algebraic reasoning.
Many of us are visual learners. Using a balance with pictures gives our students a visual/pictorial representation before solving the problems using the algorithm.
