Description

The Ottoman Empire was the multinational, multilingual state that controlled much of Southeastern Europe, Western Asia, and Northern Africa between the 14th and early 20th centuries. A class could spend six-eight weeks learning about the Ottomans, but few of us have the time for such an in-depth study. This resource introduces important historical facts about the Ottoman Empire and can be used as a stand-alone resource or as a springboard for additional targeted study. It includes a two-page reading of 950 words (with images) and is followed by questions requiring your students to sequence key events in the history of the Ottoman Empire and show understanding of some important people, places, ideas, and events in their story. There is also a crossword puzzle that allows further practice for students. This 'printable/no prep" resource is an ideal way for a middle-grade audience to learn about the Ottoman Empire.
