Description
This activity on his famous poem, "The Raven" begins by building students' background knowledge about Poe and then introduces a whole lot of challenging vocabulary words before diving into the poem. The poem is structures in the original formatting that Poe intended (and a picture of his original manuscript is included) along with discussion notes for the class to stop and discuss as students annotate the passage. After reading there are reflection questions that guide students through how to summarize and reflect on the meaning of the story and how Poe really did something impressive here with this poem.
