Embrace scientific exploration with the Them Bones PBL
This project based learning activity is fun and easy to implement. It works as a supplement to an instructional unit on bones or as a stand-alone activity for practicing various skills. It can easily be adapted for various ages and grade levels, with plenty of opportunities for extension and higher order thinking.
This activity touches on a number of standards and promotes active engagement.
With the Them Bones PBL, students will:
~Learn about bones - what they are made of and what makes them strong
~Engage in scientific experimentation - using the scientific method
~Engage in engineering - through building a skeleton model
~Practice writing and speaking - by reporting their findings in written form and giving a presentation
~Develop social skills - through group work and collaboration
