This slide deck breaks down what is currently going on with Ukraine and Russia as of March 8, 2022. The lesson is fully editable and can be adapted as needed based on student sensitivity or on new events that occur. It features a 5 Themes of Geography Analysis of both Russia and Ukraine, a YouTube video explaining what caused the turmoil, and a free Newsela article to help explain how this will impact the United States and the rest of the world.
Students will also practice important ELA skills such as finding and citing text evidence, identifying and apply domain specific vocabulary, composing clear written responses, and other writing and reading comprehension skills. This Pear Deck can be given as whole-group instruction (recommended for necessary discussion) or in self-paced mode.
