Draw in the Details was developed to be used as a stepping stone to descriptive, meaningful writing. The sight word worksheets included in this pack are designed to be a fun and interactive way to teach your students the basics of writing simple sentences. The worksheets are easy to use and can be incorporated into your daily lesson plans.
The worksheets are divided into two levels, so you can easily differentiate instruction for your class. Level one is perfect for kindergarten students who are just starting to learn about writing simple sentences. However, if you are working with a struggling first-grader, ESL student, or in a SPED setting these would be appropriate. The level two worksheets are great for advanced kindergarten or on-level first-grade students.
⭐ Level One ⭐
Step 1: Read the simple sentence.
Step 2: Add 3 details to the picture. (Optional: color the pencil icons to track progress)
Step 3: Color with at least 5 colors. (Optional: color the crayon icons to track progress)
Step 4: Trace the sentence.
Step 5: Write the sentence independently.
⭐ Level Two ⭐
Step 1: Read the simple sentence.
Step 2: Add 3 details to the picture. (Optional: color the pencil icons to track progress)
Step 3: Color with at least 5 colors. (Optional: color the crayon icons to track progress)
Step 4: Rewrite the initial sentence and continue writing simple sentences to describe additions made to the picture. (Optional: tell students to write at least 3 additional sentences)
Finally, the students will rewrite the initial sentence on their own.
*Please note that the level one and two worksheets use the same sentences but allow for differentiation through student expectations.
