I am a special education teacher in a large urban school district in New York. My students are part of an inclusion class where every child comes to school with their own unique set of strengths and challenges. Some stories in our room would cause grown men to cry and yet the children get up, come to school, and do the very best they can with the abilities they have. Some are more challenged than others and others are brilliant but need guidance to find it. That's my job.
Our students need high quality resources, afforded most suburban schools without a second thought. We share eight antiquated computers between 23 students. Our blended learning program was recently removed due to high cost. We buy large sums of materials out of pocket willingly as the students deserve every single dime spent on them!! We ask that you support our vision of a well prepared classroom and all that means for the future of these third grade students, now and forever.
