Hello! My name is William Fulton V, and I am 26 years old. I am currently in my second year of education. Growing up, I always wanted to be a professional baseball player, like most kids of course! I was never a fan of school, and I always thought it was boring and a waste of time. I believed this until I met someone who changed my life forever, and that person is Coach Olinde. He became more than a teacher for me, he became my mentor. To this day, 10 years later, I still communicate with Coach Olinde. He was the first educator I had that showed he cared about more than just my grade, he cared about my health, my home-life, and most importantly, my future. When I was sick, he called to check on me. When I was hurt, he was there to pray for me. When I needed someone to talk to, he was there to listen to me. When going to the MLB didn't turn out for me, I knew I wanted to coach and teach children, and become a part of their life, just like Coach Olinde was for me.
School does not have to be boring and about making A's on every test. School should be fun and relate-able to life. I spend a lot of time working on making activities that get students up moving, in groups, solving puzzles and riddles, and using technology. (You can look at some of the pictures to get some ideas!) I also spend a lot of time building relationships with my students. I want them to know I believe in them and will push them to be the best they can be.
Many of our students are born into poverty, and my goal is to show them that do not have to grow up and continue to live in poverty. Donations would go to buying certain supplies for students, as well as updating our classroom library, buying materials for more hands on science labs, and other activities that would engage students in learning, and step away from the boring lectures of school!
