Description
As an OT in the school system with more than 20 years of experience, I have taken many approaches to assist students in handwriting. Theories and styles of teaching have changed drastically throughout my career, however, one thing remains consistent with the writing process: not only are motor skills required, but a visual perceptual understanding of WHERE the letters go when we write is essential, no matter what formation practices/lessons have taken place! This ultimate letter pack includes 5 printable classroom posters, 2 styles of letter charts with tall/small/fall letters indicated, a letter sort chart for visual perceptual practice, and a printable alphabet to use with the letter sort chart.
I focus on teaching tall/small/fall letters so students learn where letters belong
on lines when writing. By breaking the letters into these groups, I believe it simplifies the visual perceptual skill and aides in recall when writing and placing
letters on the lines. Individual poster charts for reference of tall/small/fall letters are included with this pack. The posters include child-familiar pictures to visualize and assist in recall. In addition to the classroom posters and desk top letter charts for reference, this pack includes a letter sort chart for students to practice sorting letters into tall/small/fall from memory in a motor-free practice situation.
