Hi! This is my third year teaching at a small and wonderful elementary school in Harlem. My students are English language learners from many different countries and speak several different languages including Arabic, French, Spanish, Italian and Wolof. Before Harlem, I worked at a Montessori school in Atlanta where I learned how valuable play can be for learning especially for learners who are acquiring a new language. My hope is to bring in Montessori-type materials (or realia) into my classroom so that the students have something tangible to connect language to.
