For far too long, students of color have been subjected to marginalized curriculums and novels that have not addressed the needs of the diverse learners that fill our classrooms. Many times, our students of color fall grade levels behind in reading due to them not be exposed to novels and authors that resemble the landscape of the world in which we live. It has been my goal to integrate more culturally responsive texts into my schoolhouse to give our students the ability to explore texts that are inclusive, responsive, and empower them to fight against injustices and giving a voice to the unheard. #BeTheChange
