This picture book companion is a complete supplemental resource for the book Animal Dads by Steve Jenkins.

With 24 print-and-go reading activities to choose from, this resource is ideal for customizing learning to your student's specific needs and academic abilities. Students will apply listening and note-taking skills, investigate how animal dads help take care of their young, make inferences and connections, learn and apply new vocabulary, identify and gain information using text and graphic features, answer questions that require them to think beyond the text, and so much more!

â—¾ Animal Dads - Student Notes Booklet: Students will take notes in their booklets while reading the story (ANSWER KEY INCLUDED).
â—¾ Word Scramble (2 versions are included - one with a word bank and one without): Students use the details from the book to unscramble the words (ANSWER KEY INCLUDED).

â—¾ Animal Dads Playing Cards: Students create playing cards that include one or two facts they learned about animal dads and include a colored illustration.
â—¾ Animal Dad ABCs: Students write words or phrases that begin with each letter of the alphabet to show what they learned about animal dads.
â—¾ Animal Dads Poster: Students will create an informative poster about animal dads, including illustrations, key facts, and at least three new vocabulary words from the book.
â—¾ 2 - Word Search Puzzles: Students use the clues to fill in the puzzles (ANSWER KEYS INCLUDED).
â—¾ 2 - Crossword Puzzle: Students use the clues and word banks to fill in the crossword puzzles (ANSWER KEYS INCLUDED).
â—¾ Animal Dads Superlatives: Students will choose an animal for each superlative, write the animal's name, and draw a picture of it (ANSWER KEYS INCLUDED).
â—¾ Fun Facts about Animal Dads: Students will record interesting information and fun facts about other animal dads.
â—¾ New Vocabulary: Students choose four new words they learned while reading about animal dads, find their meanings, and draw a picture for each word.
â—¾ Caring Caregiver: Students will write about how their fathers or other important males in their lives take care of them and explain why they are important to them.
