Description
This is a fun lab for high school chemistry or physical science students. In this lab, students will use the science of acid and base reactions to demonstrate chemical and physical reactions as well as apply Newton's Laws of Motion to create their best cork rocket. Students will make predictions, collect data, and answer probing questions at the end of the lab. This lab also includes a teacher's guide as well as background information on the chemistry behind the reaction, chemical and physical changes, and Newton's Laws of Motion.
Want to take it up a notch with your students? Make this into a competition! Divide your class into teams and have them compete to see who can make their cork rocket go the furthest!
This lab is easily adaptable to homeschool or the classroom. It could also be easily adapted to a middle school science class. Included are teacher notes to help guide you through this lab.

Will I need lab equipment for this experiment?
No. You will use basic household ingredients. It is helpful to have a digital scale and measuring cups for students to use. Instead of a beaker, you can use a bowl or a cup.
