Description
Students practice balancing simple equations using candy (like skittles) or provided paper candies. First, student read background information to review chemical equations and balancing equations. Then, students answer pre-lab questions pertaining to the background information. Students then balance and model five different chemical reactions using candies.
A detailed lesson plan with objectives, standards, materials, and procedure is included. Also included is a full answer key in both PDF and in PPT so you can project go through the answers to the lab with students at your own pace.
Low prep and easy to follow " this lab is sure to be a hit in your classroom! All you need are 12 candies of each color (red, yellow, orange, green, purple). If you don't want to use candy, paper candies are provided in color and in black and white with chemical symbols.
