On Oct.24, 2024 their will be an annular solar eclipse that will be viewable over the continental US! NASA released a 3D printable pinhole viewer for the USA. But they also released an activity to see if the size and shape of the pinhole affects the shape of the eclipse!
This PDF has a full TinkerCAD walk through to modify NASA's original file. It also has a second activity where you can make a full array of size and shapes for viewing the eclipse!
This lab also includes 2 sets of worksheets! Your students will work with a partner to observe the eclipse and the effects of it though different pinhole viewers.
Your class can design and 3D print or laser cut these viewers, or download them from the author for FREE.
