About
I have always loved teaching, coming from an education family, but it was later in my teaching career that I found my true teaching passion: theatre. It incorporates a host of things I feel are in my wheelhouse, like English and art, as well as the speech pursuits I've always enjoyed as well. I graduated from Baylor University a semester early in the fall of 1989 and have been teaching ever since. I launched a successful and satisfying theatre career at Rice High School, a small Texas school, in 2002, after teaching high school art at Corsicana High School for many years. I am blessed to have taught and directed a host of highly talented and driven students since then, taking 6 plays to State and having multiple State Champions and medalists in Speech events at State. I continued to pursue new and more effective ways to teach and direct. I have since earned my MA in Educational Theatre from The University of Houston. I currently teach at Blooming Grove High School, co-director our BGISD musical, co-direct our junior high and high school competitive One Act Plays, coach our Lion Speech & Debate Team, am Fine Arts Director for BGISD, serve as BGHS UIL Coordinator and BGHS NHS and class sponsor. I'm a wife of 27 years to David, and mom of two highly intelligent and beautiful girls, Sarah and Anna. I have the chance to attend a prestigious, amazing acting and directing Broadway workshop in New York City that is also pricey, so I'm hoping for the help of many friends, colleagues, former students, and others in paying for my flight, tuition, room and board, and transportation, plus the shows they recommend you see while there. It is the Broadway Teacher Workshop through Broadway Teaching Group. Go to their website to see even more information about this incredible and intensive program!
