Description

Introduce your students to Ancient Egypt by exploring their fascinating religious belief of immortality. Colorful photos, animated graphics, and challenging problems will captivate your students' curiosity and attention as they delve into this ancient civilization.
Much of what we know about ancient Egypt is because of their belief in immortality. They believed in life after death. They believed you could take your stuff with you into the Land of the Dead. The ancient Egyptians loved life and the world around them. They believed that not even death would end this love. The Egyptians observed that the desert naturally mummified the dead and so they believed that immortality was dependent on a recognizable physical body. This 148-slide presentation is about that quest; featuring beautiful photos from various tombs of murals and artifacts, it addresses the following questions:
-Who gets to enter the Land of the Dead, and how to ensure one's entrance?
-How to ensure that the dead body will not rot and decompose?
-How does one take physical stuff into a spiritual afterlife?
-How to ensure that the physical stuff taken is not destroyed or stolen by thieves?
Built into this presentation are 8 class discussions and 7 writing opportunities. The students will learn how to identify 15 Egyptian gods who are found in the various paintings, statues and jewelry. They will answer 6 standard's-based questions on Ancient Egypt and identify the 18 gods and individuals depicted in the sacred ceremony of the Weighing of the Heart.
This presentation is highly interactive and engaging with 30 photos of actual tomb paintings and grave goods, plus numerous others of statues and pyramids.
