This Functional Rounding unit explains Rounding using real life examples, including when the typical rounding rules don't always apply in real life. I always find that my students understand concepts more when I am able to relate them to their real, every day life.
You will find a few pages on place value with a place value chart that could be laminated if you want! There is a worksheet titled Place Value Practice.
After reviewing place value, the unit explains rounding in multiple ways including rounding when it comes to grades, money, events, road trips, never ending numbers, grocery stores, and budgeting. At the end of the unit, you will find three rounding practice worksheets which include 18 pages and 80 problems. An answer key is included as well!
