Description
The submarine is one of the most important inventions in naval history, yet few know of its long and fabled history. The engaging informational passage concisely and accurately presents the history of the submarine, from its initial conception in the late 1500s through to the modern nuclear submarines of the 21st century.
This Common Core-aligned passage is teacher and student-friendly and written for use in Grades 5-8. It can be implemented in a number of ways by teachers (close reading, direct instruction in class, independent practice, absence work, homework, test prep, assessment, centers, etc).
This "printable/no prep" resource includes:
1) A engaging 870-word informational passage titled 'The History of Submarines"
2) A total of 29 questions, including vocabulary, sequencing, reading comprehension, and written reflection, designed to align with Common Core Standards RI.4.5, RI.5.4, and RI.6.3
3) An additional crossword puzzle for early finishers or as an alternative form of assessment.
