The King's English ELA Curriculum
If you're looking for a Christian, high school English curriculum to teach literature knowledge, grammar skills, and writing abilities, look no further than The King's English. KE is a rigorous, classroom-tested curriculum featuring some of the greatest literature western civilization has to offer. Perfect for both classroom teachers and homeschool families, KE offers an array of robust and challenging ELA materials combined with the moral clarity of a Christian worldview.

Fully Digital
All KE materials are digital documents in the form of google files (docs, slides, sheets, etc), easy to work with and organize. In fact, this digital nature allows most tests and quizzes in KE to be self-grading, with students receiving instant feedback on right and wrong answers. KE's digital files also easily integrate with Google Classroom, or can be used by themselves as desired.

Academically Rigorous
Each of the 9 books covered by KE includes academically rigorous vocabulary, symbolism, and themes. KE also includes 5 challenging writing projects, each of which will stretch and grow students in their writing abilities. While KE is designed to be used by 9th and 10th grade students, it also contains optional assignments for further developing grammar and writing skills. These assignments can be used in any class which the teacher deems up to the challenge, as they add enough rigor to make the course suitable for even 11th and 12th grade students.

Classroom-Tested
I myself, Keith Accisano, have personally used these materials in my own high school classes over the last 5 years of my teaching career. Over those years I have created, adjusted and refined these materials to meet the various needs of my classes -with tremendous success! I am now totally confident that my curriculum, The King's English, can help other educators share the treasures of western literature with their students.

Biblical Worldview
Many ELA programs, even ostensibly Christian ones, downplay the significance of the Christian worldview in birthing western civilization, literature, and culture. But not the King's English. KE covers each work of literature from a Biblical perspective, highlighting the ways in which Christian values influenced the author, the author's culture, and the work itself. And whenever a book brings up a topic which naturally relates to the Christian worldview (as when Uncle Tom's Cabin discusses slavery, or when The Time Machine offers reflection on the end of the world), KE engages students in critical thinking and discussion from a Biblical perspective.

Curriculum Contents

o 320 analytical questions covering 9 works of literature (see list below), with answer keys.
o 64 self-grading grammar exercises (to be completed via google sheets).
o 27 Powerpoint Presentations on literature, English writing style, and other related topics, with accompanying activities.
o 9 short Grammar Quizzes (5 questions each), to be taken and automatically graded via google forms.
o 11 short 'Reading Check" Quizzes (also 5 questions each via google forms), designed to keep students accountable for reading throughout the course.
o 3 Timed Writing tests (designed to take about 1 hour each) to assess the grammar and writing abilities taught in the course, with grading rubrics.
o 4 Exams, each with 50 multiple choice questions, each of which covers approximately a quarter of the total KE material. Taken and graded via google forms.
o 5 large writing projects with detailed instructions, designed to assess student writing abilities, with grading rubrics.
o 4 links to Kahoot games, designed to be played for review before each exam.
o Miscellaneous notes, links to videos, and other resources for each work of literature.
o 1 'Master Plan" Organizer file, a google sheet which details how to organize all of the above materials throughout 1 whole school year. This file contains links to all other KE materials, allowing you to have the entire curriculum at your fingertips at all times.
