Essay writing can be difficult for many students. The use of graphic organizers are EXTREMELY helpful for students to visualize and organize their ideas in order to sequence their information and produce clear and coherent writing. Graphic organizers are a significant part of helping students begin the writing process. They provide scaffolding and differentiation for students with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, and for ENL/ESL/ELL students.
From a teachers point of view, having students work with graphic organizers also helps with data collection to see exactly which parts of the essay they are struggling with. This information will help you determine what additional learning supports might be necessary to helping students towards mastery.
This graphic organizer is specifically geared towards the writing of a literary analysis essay. It was created to help students with Part 3 of the CC ELA Regents.
