Description
Celebrate the diversity found within our world of science with this 8 page graphic organizer for a student led project exploring scientists, engineers or environmental activists of color (both past and present).
Student Objective: Over the course of two weeks, you and a partner will work together to create a podcast episode that discusses one scientist, engineer or environmental activist from the list below. A podcast is generally described as a digital audio file where one or more people are discussing a topic, idea or controversy; it is similar to a radio broadcast. In our podcast, we will be describing the lives and accomplishments of our chosen scientist/engineer or environmental activist and how their work made an indelible mark on our shared history.
Once a person is chosen as a topic, this graphic organizer walks students through 9 questions and a planning guide for the creation of the podcast using anchor, a free online podcast program (note: you may choose to use a different program other than anchor, the directions in the graphic organizer can be modified).
Resource includes:
A list of 50+ scientists, engineers & environmental activists of color
9 questions to answer on their chosen person
Planning guide includes 10+ questions that will help students facilitate their planning of the podcast
Podcast requirements
Script/Idea catcher
9 day timeline for students breaking down the work for each day
How can I utilize this resource in my classroom?
