Description

Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X are two of the most important members of the Civil Rights movement in the United States. However it hasn't been until recently that information about both figures has come to light showing the more human side of both men.

This lesson is meant to work in conjunction with any lesson that a teacher does comparing both MLK Jr. and Malcolm X. I personally use this piece when discussing the Civil Rights movement, current events, and my current event film on Malcolm X.

It features quotes from numerous speeches and interviews of both men's views on the topics of integration, violence, and white people.

There is a YouTube link at the end of this piece that should be watched prior to answering the questions with your students. I would suggest "acquiring" with a video converter, as YouTube has been finicky lately with what videos it allows to stay online.
